BBQ Baked Beans

Elevate a classic side dish and infuse it with Traeger signature wood-fired flavor. This BBQ baked beans recipe is simple to make, and features smoky bacon, fresh onions, and bell pepper.

Ingredients

1 1/3 Pound bacon, chopped
1 1/3 yellow onion, diced
1 1/3 green bell pepper, diced
5 1/3 Can pork and beans
1 1/3 Cup ketchup
2 2/3 Tablespoon dry mustard
1 1/3 Tablespoon black pepper
2/3 Tablespoon kosher salt
2/3 Tablespoon garlic powder
2/3 Tablespoon onion powder

Instructions

Place bacon in a cold sauté pan over medium heat. Cook until bacon is crispy and the fat is rendered. Strain fat from bacon, reserving 2 tablespoons of bacon fat, and set bacon aside.

Place reserved fat back into the pan, add onion and pepper. Sauté for 5 to 10 minutes until onions are translucent and peppers are tender. Remove from heat and set aside.

When ready to cook, set Traeger temperature to 350℉ and preheat, lid closed for 15 minutes.

In a 9×13 inch casserole dish, combine beans, cooked bacon, onions and peppers, and all remaining ingredients. Stir well to combine.

Cover the casserole with aluminum foil and place directly on the grill grate. Cook for 1 hour, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened and darkened in color a little.

Remove from the grill and let rest for 15 to 20 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
